Las-Pampas-Trout

If you enjoy fishing big foam terrestrial flies, targeting big fish, sightseeing and enjoying the wildest of places, Las Pampas is the place for you. We are located in middle Patagonia in the province of Chubut, Argentina at the foothills of the Andes mountain range. The remoteness cannot be explained, only experienced.  Las Pampas offers wild brown and rainbow trout during its November 1st - May 1st season, and brook trout from November 1st - March 1st. The fish are protected for spawning purposes during the offseason.

Fly Fishing Pacific North West Jetties

Jetty Fly Fishing in the Pacific Northwest

When most fly fishermen think of the Pacific Northwest, it conjures up imagery of winter steelhead in pouring rain or coastal cutthroat on a rocky beach. There is, however, another vibrant fishery hidden in plain sight on the fringes of the region. At the openings of many harbors in the Pacific Northwest are artificial jetties and each of these structures offers access to a unique and underrated opportunity in fly fishing. These jetties are home to different types of pacific bottomfish such as lingcod, greenling, and countless species of rockfish. Most fishermen associate these species with offshore fishing using heavy conventional gear, but they visit the shallow, nearshore zones more often than many anglers realize and are very willing to take a properly presented fly.

Pyramid Lake Fly Fishing

So… 2020… after all we as humans have been through this year here comes a big flash of excitement and energy. Pyramid Lake Nevada is opening to fishing on November 2nd. Normally this place opens its season on October 1st with enormous cutthroat trout chasing down huge bait balls of Chub mimicking days out on the ocean chasing boiling yellowtail or bonito. Better late than never so here we go.

Best Dry Flies

BEST DRY FLIES

Fly-Fishing-Dry-Flies

There are millions of different dry flies that exist today.  They are designed to mimic insects like mayflies, caddisflies, stoneflies and various terrestrials.  Dry flies can be tied with natural materials such as deer hair and hackle feathers, and synthetic materials like foam and rubber legs.  No matter which you choose, it must do two things:  Float, and be durable.

Alaska Trout Camp

Alaska-Trout-Fly-Fishing

Their fishing program is built around targeting the biggest native Rainbow Trout in the world. During the months of September and October, these massive non-anadromous Rainbows move from the lake and into the river to gorge themselves on salmon eggs, flesh, and leeches. They run from September 1st to November 1st  because this is the prime time to catch these monster ‘bows by way of the fly.
