STRIKE INDICATORS! Now that sounds way more hard core than a bobber. Not sure what it is but there is something about saying strike indicators that makes using a bobber with a fly rod sound more appealing. But whatever you feel like calling it if you've got a few monster indibobbers sitting in your fishing bag you're on your way to the style of fishing that I commonly refer to as 0-60mph fishing. Indicator or Balanced Leech fishing for Bass of all types is a really fun way to get out on the water near you be it the bays or local lakes it should provide some fun fights and memories. Best Grasshopper Patterns

Best-Grasshopper-Paterns for trout

Warm windy afternoons with the clicking sounds of Grasshoppers flying through the summer breeze will get any fly anglers heart racing. But what hopper pattern should you choose? That’s always the delema when I hit up a river. What size do I use? What color? Foam or not to foam? Those are the real questions. In this blog I will go through my favorite Grasshopper patterns and when/why I fish them.

Tungsten Beads

Ever since I started fishing, it was engrained into my head the value of tungsten beads, especially when euronymphing.  Tungsten has a density of 19.3 grams per cubic centimeter, while brass has a density of 8.73 grams per cubic centimeter and lead being 11.34 grams per cubic centimeter.

The added density means a smaller bead to get your fly down into the feeding zone.  With the popularity of euronymphing, this is now more or less common knowledge amongst fly anglers.  As a Competition Angler, I get asked for my opinion on all facets of fly angling, and I’m always happy to share my thoughts.  Tungsten beads comes up quite frequently, and in the past I’ve shared my opinion based on empirical data, but never have I backed this empirical data up with hard cold facts.

Fly Fishing Corbina - Best Flies

So when it comes to fly fishing for Corbina, considering they can be worse than permit at times, the fly selection can be crucial in success in fooling the SoCal Bonefish know as the “ bean” or Corbina.

San-Diego-Surf-Fishing

Having the right fly to present can mean the difference between getting a take or a major refusal. The majority of the time chasing these fish up and down the surf we are fishing them in very shallow water, therefore they get a very good look at our fly. Playing this sight fishing game can be rewarding but also can be  down right frustrating if your fly isn’t to there liking. Presentation is a very important factor in success as well as the saltwater fly pattern you choose to throw at them. These saltwater fish are very keyed into the food source and are not easily fooled by patterns that don’t represent it well.
