Alaska

Alaska has over 3,000 streams, creeks or rivers so it would be impossible to select the best 5, 10 or even 50 best places to fly fish for salmon, trout, and steelhead.  There are great salmon runs in the rivers near cities such as Anchorage, Homer and Juneau that give anglers a great opportunity to land a 50 pound fish.

There are many Alaskan fishing guides and fishing charters available. When choosing one, it really all comes down to budget.  Fishing is one of the largest industries in the state and these guides do this for a full time living.

Do you want to fly in to a fishing lodge to fly fish, or would you rather raft the river and tent camp along it's banks?  Do you prefer to fish from a drift boat or wade to fly fish?  Once you answer these and other similar questions,  you can then begin the process of figuring out where to go.  Rivers like the Kenai and Nushagak are always high on our list.

If you go during the right time of year, you are going to find plentiful numbers of huge fish.  There are certain times of the year that each type of salmon run, so be sure to find this out before booking a trip.
