Green River

The Green River is a famous western river that has a variety of water types that are perfect for every fly fisherman’s wants and needs. Depending on what area you choose to fish, there’s riffles, runs, pools, cut-banks, and pocket water. With a dirt road following 8 miles of public fishing water just above Warren Bridge, this is one of Wyoming’s most accessible streams. Although some of the best fishing can only be had while in a drift boat, there are still many high quality wading areas that are very productive. The first major hatch is the Grey Drake and it typically starts in early July. As the season progresses, you’ll get into a variety of hatches including Caddis, Pale Morning Duns, and Golden Stones. Also while fishing the Green, don’t forget the “meat and potatoes” and fish some big nasty streamers for some arm straightening action.
