John Hendrickson

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He started fly-fishing when he was 16 and now, at the age of 37, has turned his hobby into his carrer. John has fished for everything from Lake Erie Steelhead to Pacific Mako Sharks.  As a matter of fact, if it swims, he's probably caught it on the fly. He even holds a Master Angler Award for a Carp that he caught while living in Colorado.  His addiction for Carp fishing has led him to be featured in a number of tv shows, as well as a variety of books and magazines.  Most recently "The Orvis Guide to Fly Fishing for Carp" published in 2013.

John is also our  manager at The Fly Stop Bird Rock location in La Jolla, Ca. where he provides valuable insight on everything fly-fishing, including fly tying and casting instruction.  He is our lead guide for surf fishing excursions as well. John has the same passion for teaching as he does fishing and truly enjoys guiding clients of all experience levels…especially beginners!
