This means that you have a fly rigged first as your “top” fly and add a length of tippet, most commonly from the hook’s bend and trail a “dropper’ behind underneath the surface of the water like the prince nymph fly. Some prefer the unweighted prince nymph fly version because they believe that it gives prince nymphs the most realistic action. The weight range of prince nymphs is achieved with the beads used. Some of the beads on a prince nymph fly will be brass, and prince nymphs with tungsten beads are not uncommon either. Tungsten beaded prince nymphs will get down to the bottom of the river much faster than prince nymphs with a brass bead.
